Water is fun but it can be dangerous! Learning to swim is a life skill, and we take it very seriously at #SIGSswim!
1. Learning how to swim and be water safe can help you be aware of your surroundings and know what to do in case of an accident.
Drowning doesn't look like drowning, and the statistics are frightening. About one in five people who die from drowning are children 14 and younger, according to the CDC. Learning to swim is a way to change those statistics and decrease the risks associated with swimming. If we want our kids to stay safe around water, swim lessons are a must!
2. In addition to safety, swimming is a great way to stay healthy and in shape.
Let’s list the benefits:
It’s a low impact sport (LESS INJURIES)
It keeps the heart rate up (HEART HEALTHY)
Learning breath control and swimming long distances increases lung capacity (STRONG LUNGS)
It strengthens and tones the muscles
It’s an overall body workout

3. If you take swimming seriously and decide to make it your sport, swim lessons can give you a competitive edge over others. One of the main things about swimming is that even though you can be on a swim team competing against another team, you are mainly competing against yourself.
Our programs get students swim-team ready; we even have a Swim Club for team kids who desire more intensive practice. Year-round perpetual swim lessons can provide that little boost to help shave off those extra seconds. We host swim classes all year at #SIGSswim in our indoor, heated pool.
4. Swimming is a lifelong and life-saving skill. And once you’ve learned it, you have a skill that you can enjoy and take with you throughout your lifetime. But remember, repetition is key. Many people think that they can learn to swim in a few weeks and they’ll be good to go; this is not the case.
We hear on a weekly basis how a parent wants to sign their kids up for lessons. “They did really well last summer but we took a break and so they have forgotten what to do.” That’s because they have not been swimming on a regular basis.
It’s good to get them in lessons for the summer, but as has been witnessed, Just swimming during the summer won’t allow a swimmer to continue progressing. That’s why we offer swim lessons on a perpetual basis at #SIGSswim.
